About Matt Chiappetta

Solopreneurs are kind of my jam.

I spend most of my time surrounding myself with one-person businesses eager to learn and grow because I am on that same path.

But as you grow, it’s easy to get wrapped up chasing $ signs.

I believe the value of solopreneurship has nothing to do with what you make and everything to do with the financial freedom it creates in your life.

By helping solopreneurs gain confidence and clarity over their finances, I help solopreneurs experience greater financial freedom.

True financial freedom is all about the ability to do what you want,
when you want and with who you want.

A journey to financial freedom

At the start of my financial journey, I became captivated by the FIRE movement and its promise of financial independence and early retirement.

The process seemed straightforward enough: save more, retire earlier, and gain the freedom to live the life you want.

However, my wife and I soon realized that our visions for financial freedom differed. She didn’t want to sacrifice our current lifestyle for future freedom.

We soon realized we needed a new approach to align our values and goals.

Instead of pinching pennies and waiting to live our dream life together, we sought a solution that would allow us to create the life we wanted now while also securing our financial future.

This led us to the SlowFI movement, which founder Jessica Lynn describes as “making the journey as remarkable as the destination.”

The concept of shifting the focus to now rather than later struck a chord.

Instead of waiting years to create more freedom in our life, I started to think about how we could create more freedom today.

This led me to solopreneurship, where I could pursue my passions and create the type of work-life balance I wanted as a father of two children under five.

And now, my focus is on helping other solopreneurs discover their money journey and helping them achieve it.

If you’re still reading and interested in learning more about my career path…

I took the traditional path of many CPAs, working for four years in public accounting before realizing the 60-70 hour per week lifestyle wasn’t for me.

My next role came as an assistant controller for a manufacturing business. Within a short period, I became the Corporate Controller (with a vacant CFO position).

At 27 years old, I helped guide the financial aspects of the sale of the business for a healthy eight figures.

While I enjoyed corporate accounting, I wanted to drive deeper impact for individuals, which led me to become the CFO of a financial advisory business after considering starting my own business.

Working with individuals on their retirement plans was the first opportunity in my life to truly transform how people think and feel about their money.

I enjoyed the work and the team, but as we grew, I started to miss the earlier days of building the business from the ground up while wearing multiple hats.

And I still had this dream of owning my own business that started when I left corporate accounting.

That’s when it all came full circle, and I could see the big picture from business money to personal finances to retirement and how to put the whole picture together, and I now help people like you do the same.
